Migration of Learner Email (@learner.hkuspace.hku.hk) Hosting from Google to Microsoft

 

As Google’s existing unlimited storage for education will come to an end, HKU SPACE has decided to migrate Learner Email (@learner.hkuspace.hku.hk) hosting from Google to Microsoft on 31 March 2022. Each Microsoft account has 1TB drive storage and 100GB email storage (Full-time Students) / 50GB email storage (Part-time Students / Alumni). This arrangement is also applied to HPSHCC students. But the email addresses and login credentials remain unchanged for all users.

 

During the migration period (i.e. before 31 March 2022), some emails are delivering to your Google mailbox while some are delivering to your Microsoft mailbox. Therefore, you should check your learner emails on Google and Microsoft to avoid missing any important messages from the College and lecturers. To access the Google and Microsoft webmail system, you should login to Learner Portal and click the appropriate icon on the left (Guide as attached). You may also consider forwarding your Google and Microsoft learner email accounts to your personal email account (e.g. @gmail.com, @yahoo.com.hk, etc.) so that all incoming emails could be directed to your personal one for reading. But the email forwarding between your Google and Microsoft learner email account is not valid because they are under the same user account.

 

After the migration on 31 March 2022, you should:

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft learner email (access via Learner Portal or directly at https://outlook.office.com) to check and send new emails.
  2. Sign in to your Google learner email (access via Learner Portal) and migrate your old emails and files from Google to Microsoft or other platforms.
