Application for Continuing Education Fund (CEF)

(for CEF reimbursable courses in Semester 2, 2023-24 only)

CEF Reimbursable Course in Semester 2, 2023-24 for Fee Reimbursement

Amount of Reimbursement

Eligible CEF applicant may submit unlimited number of claims for reimbursement of course fees up to a maximum sum of HK$25,000 (upon successful completion of CEF reimbursable courses). The co-payment ratios by students (i.e. the percentage of fees to be borne by students) for the first HK$10,000 subsidy is 20% of the course fee and that for the second HK$15,000 subsidy is 40% of the course fee.

Eligibility

Students meeting the following eligibility criteria can apply for the reimbursement of course fee of approved CEF reimbursable courses in Semester 2, 2023-24 (course period: 24 January 2024 - 19 June 2024):

• Be a *Hong Kong resident with the right of abode or the right to land / remain in Hong Kong without restriction, or holder of one-way permit (單程證) from the Mainland China
• Reached the age of 18 on 24 January 2024 (i.e. start date of Semester 2, 2023-24)
• Have NOT received subsidy from Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) or grants / loans from Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) in Semester 2, 2023-24
• Completed an approved CEF reimbursable course in Semester 2, 2023-24 with an overall marks 50 or above and with an attendance rate not less than 70% of the total teaching hours prescribed by the CEF (According to the Office of the CEF, students who have not attended a class with whatever reasons (including sickness with and without medical certificate) should be counted as ABSENT)

* “A” (right of abode), “R” (right to land) or “U” (remain in Hong Kong without restriction) should appear below the date of birth on the Hong Kong ID card

Application Deadline

Students should email to cefapply@hkuspace-plk.hku.hk before 5 June 2025 (Thu) to indicate their intention to apply and to verify their attendance record and assessment result of approved CEF reimbursable course(s) in Semester 2, 2023-24. Eligible students will then be required to complete an application form for submission to the Office CEF. For details, please refer to “Application Procedures” in the following section.

Application Procedures

Students who would like to apply for the reimbursement of course fee of approved CEF reimbursable courses in Semester 2, 2023-24 should follow the procedures below:

1. Check that you have met the first three criteria mentioned under “Eligibility” section in this notice
2. Make sure you have studied approved CEF reimbursable course(s) in Semester 2, 2023-24 (course period: 24 January 2024 – 19 June 2024). Please access the link below for the list of approved CEF reimbursable courses in Semester 2, 2023-24:

3. Email to cefapply@hkuspace-plk.hku.hk before 5 June 2025 (Thu) to indicate your intention to apply and to verify your attendance record and assessment result of approved CEF reimbursable course(s) in Semester 2, 2023-24. In the email, you should provide the following information:

• Email Title:

            Check CEF eligibility – XXX (state your full name and SID)

• Email Content:

            (copy the below table to your email and fill in all necessary information, add additional rows if you have more than 3 approved CEF reimbursable courses)

4. The College will inform you of your eligibility to apply for CEF reimbursement via email (“notification email”). For those who are eligible to apply, they are required to:

• ​​​Complete the online/paper Continuing Education Fund Application Form with the course information provided in the notification email
• Submit your online/paper application with *relevant supporting documents to the Office of CEF before 19 June 2025 (Thu) for processing of fee reimbursement. Late submission will not be considered

      * Relevant supporting documents include the following items:

• Copy of One-way permit (if applicable)
• Copy of front page of your bank passbook or bank statement showing your name, account number and bank name / bank code
