Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS)

Invitation for Application (2024/25)
The Government has set up a Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund to offer scholarships to students pursuing full-time locally-accredited self-financing sub-degree or bachelor’s degree (including top-up degree) programmes. Details are as follows:

Aim:

To recognise students’ outstanding achievements.
|
Eligibility:
|
ONLY for local or non-local students currently studying in Year 1 and Year 2 of Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programmes.
Students of Diploma in Foundation Studies are NOT eligible for this Scholarship.

Selection Criteria:
|
- High standard of academic performance*;
- Leadership and good communication skills;
- Valuable contribution to HPSHCC / the community;
- Strong commitment to the Hong Kong community.
*Returning students should achieve a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.5. Exceptional cases will only be considered on a case-by-case basis, e.g. students whose cumulative GPA slightly falls below 3.5 but have demonstrated exemplary distinguished non-academic achievements.
For new students, it is based on public examination results.

Value of Award:
|
HK$30,000 per year.
(Students can apply for renewal of the Scholarship based on consistent high merits and fulfillment of the criteria.)

Selection Process:
|
A Selection Committee will be set up by the College to consider the applications, and to draw up a shortlist of nominations for submission to the Education Bureau. The Committee is chaired by the College Vice President, and members include the College Associate Vice President (Administration), two academic staff and Head of Student Development Resource Centre or his designate.
The Education Bureau will set up an independent committee to consider the nominations for endorsement by the Secretary for Education whose decision shall be final.

Application Process:

Students who have met the above criteria are invited to submit the following documents via e-Form on or before 6:00pm, 8 November 2024 (Friday). Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

- Year 1 students: Upload your DSE result slip/Public Examination Result in the e-Form.
- Year 2 students: Upload your transcript (official/unofficial) in the e-Form.
- Upload your documentary proof in e-Form, i.e. certificates, awards, etc.

Results will be announced via Learner Portal after endorsement of the Secretary for Education in March / April 2025.
